Summary of the Problem.
a. Testing of aircraft aircrew restraint system has revealed a potential for the Pacific--Scientific
manufactured restraint system adjusters to fail (slip) at high loads but below those designated in the
military specification, MIL--S--58095A. The adjusters' failure (slipping) may allow the seat occupant to
make contact with surrounding equipment or structure during an accident sequence. As such,
replacement assets will be provided to the applicable and appropriate facilities in direct exchange for the
subject items.

The purpose of this TB is to identify Pacific--Scientific Restraint Systems for recall items.

a. Inspect assembly identification tags for discrepant Pacific--Scientific manufactured items with
heavy duty webbing adjusters. Heavy duty adjusters can be identified by two key characteristics:
(1) The center bar that the webbing wraps around is a knurled cylinder.
(2) The side plates have a wedge shaped profile and have patent number 3872550 stamped
into them. Suspect dates of manufacture are between 6--95 and 3--01 are printed on the back of the
adjuster in white ink.
