Summary of the Problem.
a. AH--64 Main Rotor Pitch Housings have been assigned a retirement life of 1193 hours. The AH--64A
ISAQ Revision 7 dated 8 Feb 2000 allows AH--64A models only to extend that time to 1553 hours through
23 Feb 2001. Some pitch housings have been issued incorrectly indicating a retirement life of 1553 hours.
Some of these high time pitch housings may have been issued to units with AH--64D Longbow aircraft. There
also appears to be a misinterpretation of the AH--64A ISAQ Revision 7 grace period.
b.
c.
The purpose of this TB is to:
(1) Verify that all pitch housings having more than 1193 hours are removed from AH--64D aircraft
prior to next flight.
(2) Identify all AH--64 A and D pitch housings by aircraft, component serial number and current
flight hours.
(3) Collect and report accurate data relating to pitch housing lives installed on all fielded aircraft.
