Replace main transmission, nose gearbox, input drive shaft, and cou-
plings if excessive damage is noted to main transmission coupling.
Engine:
a. Check engine mounts for security, cracks, and misalinement.
b. Check engine control linkage for bends, breaks, and improper operation.
c. Check engine inlets for foreign objects and unusual noise.
Tail rotor drive system:
a. Check tail rotor blades for dents, nicks, scratches, separation of skin,
buckling of trailing edge, and delamination of SPAR bond lines and root
doubler bond.
b. Check tail rotor drive fork, pitch links, swashplates, and pitch control
bearing housing for damage.
c. Check tail rotor transmission mounting flanges for cracks.
d. Check tail rotor drive shaft and couplings for distortion and cracks.
Tail rotor blades:
a. Check tail rotor blades for dents, nicks, scratches, separation of skin,
buckling of trailing edge, and delamination of SPAR bond lines and root
doubler bond.
b. Check tail rotor drive fork, pitch links, swashplates, and pitch control
bearing housing for damage.
c. Check tail rotor transmission mounting flanges for cracks.
Transmission and nose gearboxes:
a. Check chip detectors and lube oil filters for metal accumulation.
b. Check main transmission couplings.
c. Check tail rotor drive shaft and couplings for distortion and cracks.
APU drive shaft and APU clutch:
a. Check APU drive shaft and couplings for damage. None Allowed.
b. Remove APU drive shaft and check PTO clutch.
(1) Check PTO clutch for external oil or grease leaks.
(2) Check PTO clutch for cracks.
(3) Manually rotate the clutch output shaft in both directions. The rotating
motion should be smooth with no roughness or binding. A light amont
of drag caused by the shaft seal, is to be expected.
c. Check APU mounts for cracks and distortions. None Allowed.
