MAIN ROTOR SUPPORT STRUT BUSHING REPLACEMENT (AVIM) continued
2.95B.3. Removal
CAUTION
Cutting bushing(s) too deep will result in
damage to strut mating bore.
a. Remove bushing(s) (1) from strut (2)
(TM 55-1500-322-24).
(1) Cut bushing(s) (1) to thin cell (3) and col-
lapse. Use fly cutter and hand reamer.
(2) Remove bushing(s) (1) from strut (2). Use
puller kit.
(3) Discard bushing(s) (1).
CAUTION
Pressing bushing(s) from strut without
supporting strut fork, will result in damage
to strut.
b. Remove bushing(s) (4) from strut (5)
(TM 55-1500-322-24).
(1) While supporting strut fork (6) or strut fork
support (7), press bushing(s) (4) from strut
(5). Use arbor press.
(2) Discard bushing(s) (4).
2.95B.4. Cleaning
a. Clean strut bushing mating bore(s) (para
1.47).
2.95B.5. Inspection
a. Check strut for corrosion (para 1.49).
b. Check strut for damage (para 2.11).
c. Check strut mating bore diameter.
(1) Diameter shall not exceed maximum listed in
Table 2-1. Use dial indicator.
(2) Check for scoring, nicks, and scratches.
Scoring, nicks, and scratches are acceptable
if less than 0.020 INCH deep.
