10.139. AUXILIARY FUEL TANK INSTALLATION continued
10.139.4. Installation
WARNING
Ensure auxiliary fuel tank is empty be-
fore installation as injury from fuel
may be harmful or fatal. If injury oc-
curs, seek medical aid.
a. Position tank (2) below pylon (6).
b. Lubricate packings (7) on quick-disconnect
couplings (8). Use petrolatum (item 138, App F).
c. Remove ground safety quick-release pin (9)
from ejector rack (10).
(1) Push button (11) and pull pin (9) away from
rack (10).
d. Check pylon hooks (12) for allowable release
torque.
(1) Position hooks (12) to the indicated HOOK
LOCKED position.
(2) Move hooks (12) to the indicated HOOKUN-
LOCKED position. Use torque wrench in the
MANUAL RELEASE mechanism (13). Note
torque reading at release point.
(3) Torque shall read 120 INCHPOUNDS or
less. Replace rack if torque reading to open
rack hooks is greater than 120 INCH
POUNDS (para 16.5).
