HELICOPTER WEIGHING (AIRCRAFT ON PLATFORM SCALES) continued
NOTE
Weighing procedure should be only done on a concrete floor with less than (1.2o) slope.
This section describes helicopter weighing procedures with the use of electronic platform scales
(low profile scales), portable or installed, under each wheel, and the aircraft in a normal ground
attitude. (See Figure G-1A for two-view chart diagram.)
Helicopter shall be weighed in the BASIC WEIGHT condition. BASIC WEIGHT condition is estab-
lished with all doors closed, seats in the mid position, and includes usable engine and APU oil,
trapped fuel, 30mm gun and ammo magazine, and wing pylons.
Defueling helicopter in the ground attitude with the use of a defueling pump. Drain remainder of fuel
from each tank through sump drains. Sump drains are found on helicopter bottom centerline at
fuselage stations (F.S.) 172.3 and 255.4. When the fuel drainage diminishes to dripping, allow five
minutes for balance of fuel to drain.
Check for and remove all non-basic weight items such as wing stores, expendable ordnance,
clipboards, helmets, personal equipment, tools, etc.
Pylons are a part of helicopter basic weight and should be listed on DD Form 365-1 (Chart A) as
follows:

Perform a complete inventory of items installed on helicopter. Use Basic Weight Check List,
DD Form 365-1 found in the helicopter weight and balance file. Record all discrepancies from
DD Form 365-1 in Column I or II (as applicable) on the reverse side of the Aircraft Weighing Record,
DD Form 365-2.
Failure to weigh helicopter in the BASIC WEIGHT condition with four pylons installed will cause an
incorrect center of gravity calculation when converting from as weighed condition to corrected to
level attitude condition.
