MAIN ROTOR GEARSHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION continued
6.95.4. Cleaning
a. Clean removed and attaching parts and sur-
faces (para 1.47).
6.95.5. Inspection
a. Check drive plate gear teeth for cracks and
missing teeth. None allowed.
b. Check gearshaft for excessive spline wear.
(1) Replace gearshaft if spline wear area ex-
ceeds 0.785 INCH, measured from center of
tooth depth.
c. Check gearshaft for allowable depth and ex-
tent of corrosion pits, dents, scratches.
(1) Check gearshaft for excessive pitting or spal-
ling.
(a) Replace gearshaft if pitting or spalling ex-
ceeds 0.010 INCH deep or is outside
0.785 INCH wear area on any spine sur-
face. Use depth gage.
(b) Damage within specified limits shall be
blended using 30/50:1 blend ratios in all
areas.
(c) Touch up blended areas with two coats of
primer. Use epoxy primer coating kit
(item 76, App F).
(d) Allow 1 HOUR cure time between ap-
plications.
d. Check spring for cracks, breaks, and length.
(1) Replace if damaged or if length is less than 4
INCHES.
