10.41.6. Installation
Jet fuel will cause external surface of fuel
cell to swell, delaminate, and leak if al-
lowed to contact the fuel cell more than
72 HOURS. Keep jet fuel away from the
outside of fuel cells.
a. Install valve (1) in fuel cell (2).
(1) Lubricate new packing (9). Use petrolatum
(item 138, App F).
(2) Install packing (9) on pad (8).
(3) Position valve (1) on pad (8) with bracket (10)
facing right side of fuel cell (2).
(4) Aline holes in bracket (10) with holes in
bracket (5).
(5) Install six bolts (6) and washers (7).
(6) Install two bolts (3) and washers (4).
b. Inspect (QA).
c. Install aft fuel cell fuel access panel and ac-
cess cover (para 10.32).
d. Perform pressure refueling/defueling mainte-
nance operational check (TM 1-1520-238-T).
