SHORT TERM STORAGE 1 TO 45 DAYS continued
d. Perform environmental control unit cleaning (para 1.48).
e. Perform APU cleaning (TM 55-1500-344-23).
f. Remove, clean, and reinstall engine fuel filter (TM 55-2840-248-23).
g. Service helicopter fuel system (para 1.13).
(1) Drain residual water from fuel cells and service to full.
h. Download area weapon, rockets, and/or missiles as required (TM 9-1090-208-23-1).
i. Clean area weapon (TM 9-1090-208-23-1).
j. Remove external stores jettison firing cartridges (para 16.3).
k. Clean helicopter (TM 55-1500-344-23).
l. Inspect helicopter for corrosion and perform appropriate corrosion control procedures (para 1.49).
m. Apply a thin coat of hydraulic fluid to piston rods of the landing gear, gun turret, and pylon actuator.
Use hydraulic fluid (item 92, App F).
CAUTION
If ambient temperature is below -40 F (-40 C), remove battery from helicopter (para 9.40) and store
in heated building (TM 11-6140-203-14-1 and -2).
n. Disconnect battery plug and battery sensor from battery.
(1) Connect sensor plug to stowage receptacle.
o. Make entries in log book, maintenance, and historical records as required (TM 1-1500-204-23).
(1) Place logbook and records in bag, seal, and secure to pilot seat. Use tape (item 207, App F).
p. Fasten all safety belts and shoulder harnesses and tighten to eliminate slack.
(1) Roll and secure loose ends of webbing. Use rubber band (item 151, App F).
