f. BUCSFlight Procedural Steps
(1) Crewmember Control of BUCS
(a) If the pilot decouples his SPAD first:
1 The pilot will have control.
2 The CPG can obtain control if he de-
couples his SPAD and presses the CPG BUCS select trig-
ger switch.
3 Control cannot be transferred back to
the pilot.
(b) If the GPG decouples his SPAD first:
1 The CPG will have control.
2 The pilot can obtain control by decoup-
ling the applicable pilot SPAD.
(c) If a severance occurs between crewsta-
tions:
1 The pilot has mechanical control.
2 The CPG can obtain control by press-
ing the CPG BUCS select trigger switch and creating a
sufficient mistrack.
3 Control cannot be transferred back to
the pilot.
(d) If a severance occurs aft of the crewsta-
tions:
1 Either pilot obtains control as soon as
a mistrack is sensed.
2 There is a one (1) second easyon to
achieve 100% control.
(e) If the CPG BUCS select trigger is pressed:
1 BUCS is engaged under CPG control.
2 Control cannot be transferred back to
the pilot.
(2) Jam and Severance BUCS Engagements
(a) Jam engagement.
1 If it is determined that a BUCS jam en-
gagement is warranted, make an aggressive application
of force in the jammed axis.
2 If more than one axis is jammed, de-
couple the axis that has the highest priority first.
3 After decoupling the SPAD, center the
control.
4 Fly the aircraft. Some control will be
available immediately and full control will be phased in
over a three (3) second period.
