4.31.8 Weapons Initialization Procedures. Weapons
initialization is used to verify go/no go status of the weap-
ons using caution warning lights and symbolic messages.
It also places the weapons in a condition that will require
minimal switch movement prior to engagement. It is not
necessary to slew the weapons with the selected LOS or
verify all MSL modes or LOAL positions. The Laser switch
is an important initialization step. If safety reasons inhibit
placing the Laser switch to ON, it will be communicated
between the crew. It should be noted that placing the
weapons switches and Master Arm switches OFF after a
weapons initialization defeats the purpose of conducting a
weapons initialization. A weapons initialization shall be
conducted prior to conducting live fire operations.
CAUTION
Insure that personnel are clear from the
aircraft weapon systems when conduct-
ing weapons system initialization.
