PILOT COLLECTIVE STICK SHEAR PIN REPLACEMENT continued
11.23.3. Removal
a. Enter pilot station (para 1.56). Observe all
safety precautions.
NOTE
If shear pin(s) cannot be removed by con-
ventional means, after repeated attempts
from any of the SPAD assemblies (CPG
or pilot), deliberately shearing the pin is
permitted. Ensure the ends of the pins
are removed.
b. Remove shear pin retainer (1) from arm (2).
(1) Remove lockwire.
(2) Remove retainer (1).
NOTE
Remove shear pin in pieces if sheared.
c. Remove and discard shear pin half (3) from
arm (2).
d. Remove and discard shear pin half (4) from
lever (5).
(1) Move arm (2) to allow access to shear pin half
(4).
(2) Remove and discard shear pin half (4) from
lever (5).
11.23.4. Cleaning
a. Wipe removed and attaching parts with a
clean rag.
11.23.5. Inspection
a. Check retainer for damaged threads. None al-
lowed.
b. Check removed and attaching parts for dam-
age (para 11.5).
c. Check removed and attaching parts for corro-
sion (para 1.49).
