11.173. PILOT LONGITUDINAL SHEAR PIN ACTIVATED DECOUPLER (SPAD) SHEAR PIN
REPLACEMENT continued
11.173.3. Removal
a. Enter pilot station (para 1.56). Observe all
safety precautions.
b. Remove access door (1) from pilot floor (2).
(1) Remove 28 screws (3) and washers (4).
c. Remove longitudinal F.S. 137.20 push-pull rod
(5) from SPAD (6).
(1) Remove and discard cotter pin (7).
(2) Remove nut (8).
(3) Remove bolt (9), washer (10), bushing (11),
and rod (5) from SPAD (6).
NOTE
If a shear pin(s) cannot be removed by
conventional means, after repeated at-
tempts from any of the SPAD assemblies
(CPG or pilot), deliberately shearing the
pin is permitted. Ensure the ends of the
pins are removed.
d. Remove retainer (12) from lever (13).
(1) Remove lockwire.
(2) Remove retainer (12).
NOTE
Shear pin must be removed in pieces if
sheared.
e. Remove shear pin half (14) from lever (13).
