11.173. PILOT LONGITUDINAL SHEAR PIN ACTIVATED DECOUPLER (SPAD) SHEAR PIN
REPLACEMENT continued
11.173.6. Installation
a. Lubricate tapered end of shear pin (16). Use
petrolatum (item 138, App F).
b. Install new shear pin (16) through lever (13)
and SPAD (6).
(1) Aline SPAD (6) with lever (13).
(2) Ensure that detent (17) and positioning lever
(18) are engaged.
(3) Insert shear pin (16) through lever (13) and
SPAD (6).
NOTE
Install retainer finger-tight.
c. Install retainer (12) on lever (13).
(1) Lockwire retainer (12) to lever (13). Use wire
(item 220, App F).
d. Install rod (5) on SPAD (6). Torque nut (8) 30 to
40 INCH-POUNDS.
(1) Aline rod (5) with SPAD (6).
(2) Install bushing (11).
(3) Install bolt (9) through washer (10), bushing
(11), SPAD (6), and rod (5).
(4) Check fit of self-retaining bolt (9) (para 11.1).
(5) Install nut (8). Torque nut (8) to 30 INCH-
POUNDS. Use torque wrench.
(6) Increase torque to aline cotter pin hole, but do
not exceed 40 INCH-POUNDS.
(7) Install new cotter pin (7).
