11.179. FEEL SPRING CARTRIDGE DISASSEMBLY/ASSEMBLY (AVIM) – continued
CAUTION
To maintain the operational characteris-
tics of the feel spring cartridge, do not
continue to tighten cap once the cap con-
tacts the spring assembly.
c. Install spring assembly (7) in housing (1).
Torque set screw (6) to 64 INCH-OUNCES.
(1) Slide assembly (7) in housing (1).
(2) Install cap (5) on housing (1) finger tight until
cap (5) contacts spring assembly (7).
(3) Apply a thin coat of sealing compound to
threads of set screw (6). Use brush (item 34,
App F) and sealing compound primer
(item 146, App F).
(4) Allow sealing compound primer to air dry 30
MINUTES.
(5) Apply a thin coat of sealing compound to
threads of set screw (6). Use brush (item 34,
App F) and sealing compound (item 168,
App F).
(6) Install set screw (6) until it contacts housing
(1).
(7) Torque set screw (6) to 64 INCH-OUNCES.
Use bit set and handle, screwdriver bit holder,
and torque wrench.
d. Install rod end (2) in housing (1).
(1) Install rod end (2) with nut (3) and lock (4) on
rod (10).
(2) Adjust rod end (2) until the dimension be-
tween bearing (14) and rod end bearing (15)
is 11.5 INCH.
(3) Tighten nut (3).
(4) Install lockwire through nut (3) and lock (4).
Use wire (item 224, App F).
e. Inspect (QA).
