c. Remove cap (5) from housing (1).
(1) Remove set screw (6) from cap (5).
(2) Remove cap (5) from housing (1). Use strap
wrench.
d. Remove spring assembly (7) from housing (1).
e. Remove housing (1) from vise.
NOTE
Washers (8.1) are only installed on direc-
tional feel spring cartridge, PN
7-311518009-7.
f. Remove two cups (8), four washers (8.1) (if
installed), and spring (9) from rod (10).
(1) Remove and discard lockwire from nut (11).
(2) Remove nut (11), lock (12), and stop (13)
from rod (10).
(3) Remove cup (8), two washers (8.1) (if
installed), spring (9), two washers (8.1) (if
installed), and cup (8) from rod (10).

a. Clean removed and attaching parts (para
1.47).
11.179.5. Inspection
a. Check removed and attaching parts for dam-
age (para 11.5).
b. Check removed and attaching parts for corro-
sion (para 1.49).
c. Check all installed bearing(s) and/or bush-
ing(s) for excessive wear (para 11.5).
d. Check all removed bearing(s) and/or bush-
ing(s) for excessive wear (para 11.4).
