TAIL LANDING GEAR SHOCK STRUT BEARING REPLACEMENT (AVIM)
3.42.6. Installation
a. Install bearing (1) in housing (2) of strut (3).
(1) Wipe bearing (1) clean. Remove all contami-
nants (para 1.47).
(2) Place bearing in Dry Ice (item 40, App F)
for 15 MINUTES or freeze in freezer for one
hour.
(3) Coat inside diameter of housing (2). Use
sealing compound (item 179, App F) and
brush (item 34, App F).
(4) Install strut (3) on arbor press.
(5) Press bearing (1) in housing (2). Use
constant
downward
force
(TM 55-1500-322-24).
(6) Wipe excess sealing compound (item 179,
App F) and housing (2) (para 1.47).
(7) Stake bearing (1) in housing (2). Use staking
tool
kit
and
arbor
press
(TM 55-1500-322-24).
b. Inspect (QA).
