FORWARD FUEL CELL FILLER NECK INSTALLATION – continued
10.27.3. Installation
CAUTION
Jet fuel will cause external surface of fuel
cell to swell, delaminate, and leak if al-
lowed to contact the fuel cell more than
72 HOURS. Keep jet fuel away from the
outside of fuel cells.
NOTE
Perform step a from the ammo bay while
the fuel cell is collapsed.
a. Install fuel filler neck (1) on fuel cell (2). Torque
six bolts (3) to 60 INCH-POUNDS.
(1) Lubricate new packing (4). Use petrolatum
(item 138, App F)
(2) Install packing (4) in fuel cell groove (5).
(3) Install six washers (6) and bolts (3).
(4) Torque six bolts (3) to 60 INCH-POUNDS.
Use torque wrench.
b. Inflate fuel cell (2).
(1) Install pneumatic pressure filler (7) on quick-
disconnect plug (8).
(2) Turn shutoff valve knob (9) fully counterclock-
wise to open valve (10).
