(5) Rotate barrel (3) on rod ends (1) and (2) until
ends of rod ends can been seen in the two
barrel inspection holes (8).
(6) Continue rotating barrel (3) on rod ends (1)
and (2) until barrel (3) reaches two nuts (4).
c. Adjust pitch link to 13.5 to 14.5 INCHES.
Torque two nuts (4) to 75 FOOT-POUNDS.
(1) Measure distance from center-to-center of
rod end holes.
(2) Hold rod ends (1) and (2) securely.
(3) Rotate barrel (3) to bring link to correct
length.
(4) Torque two nuts (4) to 75 FOOT-POUNDS.
Use torque wrench, torque wrench adapter,
and crowfoot.
(5) Lockwire two nuts (4) to barrel (3). Use wire
(item 226, App F).
(6) Apply a light coat of corrosion preventive
compound to exposed threads and holes (8).
Use primer coating (item 147, App F).
CAUTION
Threads of bolt and nut shall be clean,
and primer free. Contaminated threads
can cause improper torque, which may
cause damage to flight control system.
(7) Apply sealing compound to mating surfaces
of barrel (3) and two nuts (4). Use sealing
compound (item 176, App F).
(8) Apply sealing compound to two holes (8).
Use sealing compound (item 176, App F).
d. Inspect (QA).
e. Install main rotor pitch link (para 11.14).
