11.15.3. Disassembly
CAUTION
Rotating rod ends in opposite directions
will damage the pitch link assembly.
a. Remove rod ends (1) and (2) from barrel (3).
(1) Remove sealant from attaching hardware
(para 1.47).
(2) Remove lockwire.
(3) Hold barrel (3). Use open end wrench.
(4) Loosen two nuts (4). Use open end wrench.
(5) Hold rod ends (1) and (2) securely.
(6) Rotate barrel (3) to free it from rod ends (1)
and (2).
(7) Remove alinement pin (5) from rod end (1) or
(2).
(8) Remove two nuts (4) from rod ends (1) and
(2).
11.15.4. Cleaning
a. Wipe removed and attaching parts with clean
rag.
11.15.5. Inspection
a. Check removed and attaching parts for dam-
age (para 11.5).
b. Check barrels using fluorescent inspection
method (TM 55-1500-335-23). Use fluorescent
inspection kit.
c. Check removed and attaching parts for corro-
sion (para 1.49).
d. Check all installed bushing(s) and/or bear-
ing(s) for wear (para 11.5).
