b. Remove clevis (1) from piston (3).
(1) Remove lockwire from nut (4).
(2) Loosen nut (4).
(3) Remove clevis (1), nut (4), and washer (2).
WARNING
Piston is under spring tension. Be
careful when removing or installing
retaining ring to prevent injury. If inju-
ry occurs, seek medical aid.
c. Remove piston (3) from cylinder (5).
(1) Remove retaining ring (6) from cylinder (5).
(2) Remove piston (3) and spring (7).
11.37.4. Cleaning
a. Wipe removed and attaching parts with a
clean rag.
11.37.5. Inspection
a. Check clevis for bending, stripped or dam-
aged threads, and hole elongation (para 11.5).
b. Check spring for nicks or breaks. None al-
lowed.
c. Check removed and attaching parts for
cracks. None allowed.
d. Check removed and attaching parts for dam-
age (para 11.5).
e. Check removed and attaching parts for corro-
sion (para 1.49).
f. Check all installed bushing(s) and/or bear-
ing(s) for wear (para 11.5).
g. Check all removed bushing(s) and/or bear-
ing(s) for wear (para 11.4).
