FORWARD FUEL CELL INSTALLATION – continued
n. Apply talcum powder to outer surfaces of fuel
cell and to fuel cell cavity. Use talcum powder
(item 197, App F). Allow fuel cell to warm to room
temperature.
o. Position fuel cell (2) in fuel cavity (1) with fuel
drain over access opening. Ensure backing
boards are properly positioned in fuel cavity and
taped in position (para 10.51).
p. Remove straps (43).
q. Inflate fuel cell (2). Use vacuum cleaner.
(1) Install pneumatic pressure filler (45) on plug
(38).
(2) Turn shutoff valve knob (40) fully counter-
clockwise to open valve (41).
(3) Install vacuum cleaner (46) on pressure filler
(45).
(4) Start vacuum cleaner (46).
(5) Turn regulator knob (47) on pressure filler
(45) clockwise until 2 PSI is indicated on pres-
sure regulator gage (48).
NOTE
Pressure fill assembly relief valve will be-
gin venting pressure at approximately 0.5
PSI.
(6) Continue to apply pressure until fuel cell is
fully inflated.
(7) With air pressure still flowing, turn shutoff
valve knob (40) fully clockwise, to keep fuel
cell (2) inflated.
(8) Shut off vacuum cleaner (46).
(9) Remove vacuum cleaner (46) from pressure
filler (45).
