FORWARD FUEL CELL INSTALLATION – continued
z. Install fuel cell (2) on filler neck (52) in trans-
mission deck (53). Torque six bolts (56) to 60
INCH-POUNDS.
(1) Lubricate new packing (54). Use petrolatum
(item 138, App F).
(2) Install packing (54) in fuel cell groove (55).
(3) Install five bolts (56) and washers (57).
(4) Install bolt (56) through washer (57) and
ground strap (58).
(5) Torque six bolts (56) to 60 INCH-POUNDS.
Use torque wrench.
(6) Perform electrical bond check on bolt (56)
that
attaches
ground
strap
(58)
(TM 55-1500-323-24).
(a) Bond shall be 1.0 OHM or less. Use
multimeter.
(7) Seal head of bolt (56). Use sealing compound
(item 175, App F).
aa. Inspect (QA).
ab. Install access cover (59).
(1) Slide grommet and wire bundle (60) into slot
in cover (59).
(2) Position cover (59) over opening in deck (53).
(3) Lubricate seven new packings with retainers
(61). Use petrolatum (item 138, App F).
(4) Install seven screws (62) and packings with
retainers (61).
(5) Install two screws (62.1), through washers
(62.2), clamps (62.3), and spacers (62.4) into
cover (59).
ac. Apply sealing compound as fillet to seal cover
(59). Use sealing compound (item 175, App F).
